Bio

Mariam Ferguson is an experienced trial attorney who has devoted her practice to criminal law. She is committed to protecting the rights of the accused and advocating for her clients.

Mariam graduated from the University of Arizona School of Law in 2013. Her interest in criminal law began her final year of law school when she participated in a Criminal Prosecution Clinic, where she was a student-prosecutor of misdemeanor cases at Tucson City Court. Mariam’s legal experience includes clerking for two different Pima County Superior Court judges on the criminal bench, prosecuting thousands of misdemeanor cases out of Pima County Consolidated Justice Court and Green Valley Justice Court for the Pima County Attorney’s Office, and defending hundreds of indigent persons accused of serious felonies through the Pima County Public Defender’s Office.

She is well versed in issues of criminal law. She has exceptional advocacy and litigation skills, having conducted a number of evidentiary hearings, 16 jury trials, and over 50 misdemeanor bench trials. Mariam uses her knowledge and experience to successfully defend and protect her clients’ interests. She has identified and challenged numerous factual and legal issues in the State’s case, negotiated countless advantageous plea offers, and orchestrated dismissals in a number of cases through her hard work, meticulous research, and zealous advocacy.
